According to multiple reports, former #1 overall pick QB Baker Mayfield of the Cleveland Browns has been traded to the Carolina Panthers. The Browns will receive a conditional 2024 5th-round pick in return. The Browns will also reportedly pay $10.5 million of Mayfield's 2022 salary.

It's about time! We all pretty much assumed Baker Mayfield would never play for the Cleveland Browns again following the acquisition of Deshaun Watson. Carolina was one of the 2 assumed destinations for the past 4 months, and now the speculation can end. Although Baker is a slight upgrade over Sam Darnold, the draftable assets of the Carolina Panthers are currently being drafted at or near there ceiling, so not much changes with their draft value. D.J. Moore remains a high end WR2, and Christian McCaffrey remains a top 3-5 RB. Baker will probably settle in as a low end QB2 come August and that is where I will have him ranked. This move is also a signal that Deshaun Watson will possibly be available for at least a few games this season.
