DraftHustle’s Top DFS Plays of the week for Fanduel and Draftkings
QB
Anthony Richardson – IND vs Bears
Fanduel - $6,700; Draftkings - $5,600
The Colts #1 draft pick in 2023, QB Anthony Richardson, will be thrown right into the fire on week 1 against the Jaguars. The Colts will be without All-Pro RB Jonathan Taylor which means Richardson will be leaned on heavily in the run game. Assuming he performs as we expect, this is the cheapest Anthony Richardson will be all season, so take advantage of the value early as much as possible.
RB
Jamaal Williams – NO vs Titans
Fanduel - $6,800; Draftkings - $5,100
Jamaal Williams will be the lead ball carrier for the Saints for the 1st 3 weeks of the season with Alvin Kamara serving a 3-game suspension. In 3 games last year in Detroit without D’Andre Swift, Williams averaged 81 rushing yards, .67 TDs, and 12 fantasy points. That is a safe floor with room for upside, as he should get plenty of work in the passing game.
WR
Ja'Marr Chase – CIN vs Browns
Fanduel - $8,500; Draftkings - $8,100
3rd year WR Ja’Marr Chase is in a great spot to start off the 2023 season. He faces a Cleveland secondary that was middle of the road vs WRs last season and gave up the 6th most TDs per target last year. Ja’Marr torched Cleveland in 2022, catching 10 passes for 119 yards and a TD. In a game with the 2nd highest Vegas O/U (47.5), Chase will once again get plenty of targets.
TE
Tyler Higbee – KC vs Seahawks
Fanduel - $5,300; Draftkings - $4,800
Cooper Kupp is out the first 4 weeks of the 2023 season, leaving Tyler Higbee as the most reliable passing game weapon for Matthew Stafford and the Rams. Higbee had a career high in targets in 2022, averaging 6 per game in the last 8 games of the year without Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp. Double digit targets to start the year is a reasonable expectation for Higbee. The Seahawks were the best matchup for TEs last year, and Higbee can exploit them in week 1.
D/ST
Washington Commanders – vs Cardinals
Fanduel - $4,900; Draftkings - $2,800
The strategy for playing D/STs in 2023 will be to target the Arizona Cardinals, and that privilege falls to the Washington Commanders in week 1. With Josh Dobbs starting at QB, the Commanders hold feast on a team that appears to be tanking for Caleb Williams by all indications. Arizona also has the lowest Vegas implied team total on the slate. No reason to overthink this play, especially on Draftkings.
